Hi Garden Friend,

Spring is here and it's the perfect time to dust off your gardening tools and get your hands dirty in the soil! March is the beginning of our warm season (if you live in Central Texas) and is such a fun month for growing. Here are some tips to help you get started!

Prepare your soil: Healthy soil is the foundation of a successful garden. Start by clearing away any debris and adding some compost to existing beds to enrich the soil. Or if you are starting brand new, learn what soil mix is best for raised beds.

Choose your plants: Spring is the perfect time to plant a variety of vegetables, such as tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and squash. Herbs like basil, thyme, and rosemary are also great options, as well as flowers like zinnias, petunias, and marigolds.

Water wisely: It's important to keep your plants well-watered, especially during any dry and hot days during this spring and upcoming summer. Water your garden deeply and regularly, but be sure not to over-water, as this can lead to root rot. Learn about 5 different ways to water your garden and pick one that works best for you and your garden.

Protect your plants: Keep an eye out for pests and diseases that can harm your plants. Use natural pest control methods like companion planting, Grow Arber Organic Outdoor Kit, and insecticidal soap to keep your garden healthy.
