Before you build your raised beds, read this

Hi Garden Friend!

I’ve built a lot of raised beds over the years — for my own garden and for clients — and I can tell you this…

Not all materials are created equal.

Some look great at first and then fall apart way too fast.

Some are cheap upfront but end up costing more because you’re replacing them.

And some are just not something I’d feel good growing food in.

If you’re thinking about building a raised bed (or redoing one), I put everything I’ve learned into this post:

👉 The Best Materials for Raised Beds and What to Avoid

It’s basically what I wish I had when I first started.

If you’re anything like me, sometimes you just want to skip the whole building process and get planting.

Here are 3 easy options I recommend that don’t require much (or any) tools:

1. Modular metal beds (quick to assemble)

2. Pre-made cedar beds (simple + classic)

3. Corten steel beds (modern option)

These are the ones I rely on and honestly just make my time gardening feel worth it. If you’re ever unsure what to grow, I suggest picking 5 things you love to eat or look at. Here are my top 5: 1. TOMATOES I don’t think I’ve ever had a garden without tomatoes. They’re one of my favorite things to grow, but they can also be a...

Hi Garden Friend! One thing I’ve learned after years of installing and planting gardens is that vegetables grow better when flowers are part of the plan. Flowers attract pollinators, bring beneficial insects into the garden, and honestly just make the whole space more enjoyable to spend time in. And let’s be honest, when the vegetable garden isn’t producing as well as we’d like, the flowers are usually still thriving. If you're thinking about adding more flowers to your garden this year, here...

Hi Garden Friend! One thing I’ve learned after installing quite a few raised bed gardens over the years is this: What you put inside the beds matters just as much as the beds themselves. So today I’m sharing a few helpful guides to make filling your raised beds simple. 🌱 Start With the Right Soil Mix Before you...
