Want a Better Garden This Year? Plant More Flowers

Hi Garden Friend!

One thing I’ve learned after years of installing and planting gardens is that vegetables grow better when flowers are part of the plan.

Flowers attract pollinators, bring beneficial insects into the garden, and honestly just make the whole space more enjoyable to spend time in.

And let’s be honest, when the vegetable garden isn’t producing as well as we’d like, the flowers are usually still thriving.

If you're thinking about adding more flowers to your garden this year, here are a few ideas to help you get started.

💐 Grow Flowers for Backyard Bouquets

A small cut flower patch is one of the easiest ways to add beauty to your garden. Many flowers grow quickly from seed and produce armfuls of blooms you can bring inside all season long.

If you’ve ever wanted to grow your own bouquets, this guide walks you through some of the easiest flowers to start with.

🌸 Try a Relaxed “Chaos Flower Garden”

Not every garden needs perfectly spaced rows.

A chaos flower garden is simply a mix of different flower seeds scattered together and allowed to grow naturally. The result is a colorful, cottage-style garden that’s full of life and requires very little fuss.

🌿 Create Your Own Butterfly Garden

One of the easiest ways to bring more life into your yard is by planting a butterfly garden.

Butterflies are drawn to bright, nectar-rich flowers, and adding just a few of these plants can quickly turn your garden into a pollinator hotspot. Not only do these flowers support butterflies, they also attract bees and other beneficial insects that help keep your garden thriving.

🍃 Don’t Forget Edible Flowers

Edible flowers can add color and flavor to salads, desserts, and drinks. Many of them are also easy to grow right alongside your vegetables in raised beds or containers.

If you're planning your garden this season, I highly recommend saving a little space for some flowers.

Happy Gardening!!!

Hi Garden Friend, As the temperatures start climbing, one of the most common questions I get is some version of: "Am I watering my garden right?" The honest answer? I put together a full guide on the 5 different ways to water your vegetable garden, and I want to share the highlights with you here. THE 5 WATERING...

Hi Garden Friend! I’ve built a lot of raised beds over the years — for my own garden and for clients — and I can tell you this… Not all materials are created equal. Some look great at first and then fall apart way too fast. Some are cheap upfront but end up costing more because you’re replacing them. And some are just not something I’d feel good growing food in. If you’re thinking about building a raised bed (or redoing one), I put everything I’ve learned into this post: 👉 The Best Materials...
